Generate beautiful, personalised stories starring your family's own characters — with publish-quality illustrations, in seconds.
Free tier includes 5 stories per month. No credit card required.
Not just generated text — complete stories with characters your children love, illustrations they can colour, and books worth keeping.
Create a cast of characters with names, species, personalities, and appearances. Every story stars the characters your child loves most.
Every scene gets a beautiful AI-generated illustration. Choose from seven styles — watercolour, storybook, retro cartoon, Ghibli-inspired, and more.
Pick a reading level for a child learning to read — from first words to reading solo — or set an age for a read-aloud story. Vocabulary, sentence length, and story length all adapt automatically.
InkStak can read any story out loud — narration plays right on your device and keeps working offline. Available on Creator & Publisher; richer, more expressive voices are coming soon for Publisher.
For younger listeners, turn on rhyming and the whole story is written in gentle, age-appropriate verse — lovely for reading aloud at bedtime.
Turn any story into an interactive adventure. Your child makes the choices that shape the story — a different ending every time.
For older readers, generate full chapter books — then continue with new chapters whenever you're ready. Build a whole series together.
Generate print-ready black-and-white line art. Export the story, print it out, and let your child colour the illustrations themselves.
Turn a curious question into a friendly, illustrated explainer story — a fun way to help children learn about the world in words they understand.
Download as a formatted Word document, save as PDF, or export in the right format to publish your story as a real printed book on Amazon.
Add InkStak to your home screen and it works like an app — read your saved stories (and downloaded narration) even with no internet, perfect for car rides and flights.
Share your family's stories with the InkStak community. Discover and read stories from other families, and leave reviews.
No child accounts. No personal data shared without your permission. Stories stay in your library until you choose to share them.
Not quite right? Highlight any text to change a detail or rewrite a scene — InkStak propagates the update through the rest of the story. Refine a single illustration, or regenerate everything at once. Four levels of control, from a small touch-up to a full do-over.
From idea to illustrated story in about a minute.
Choose from your saved character library or describe a new one. Name them, give them a personality, choose their species and look.
Choose an age group, story genre, illustration style, and how long the story should be. Add a quick plot idea — just a sentence is enough.
Your story appears with illustrations ready to read. Save it to your library, export it, or share it with the community.

Export any story in Kindle Direct Publishing format — full-spread illustrations, page numbers, cover pages, and back cover with an AI-written synopsis. Upload directly to Amazon KDP and hold a printed copy in your hands.
Every family can share their stories to the InkStak community — and earn rewards for it. Creator subscribers also discover stories created by other families, leave reviews, and play through adventure mode branches on any shared story.
"My daughter asks for a new story every single night. We've built a whole series with her character — Pepper the cat. The watercolour illustrations are genuinely beautiful."
"We used the KDP export to print our son's favourite story as an actual hardcover book for his birthday. He was speechless. Best gift we've ever given him."
"The adventure mode is my kids' favourite. They make completely different choices every time and get a totally different ending. It's become a whole game at bedtime."
Every plan includes the full story experience. Upgrade only when you want more.

No. InkStak accounts belong to parents and guardians only. Children don't sign up, log in, or have profiles. This is a deliberate privacy-first design — your children's information never becomes account data.
Every illustration is created by advanced AI image generation, tuned for consistent, storybook-quality art. The app turns each scene from your story into the right picture automatically — you never have to write image prompts or describe the art yourself.
Yes. The KDP export creates a print-ready PDF in the correct trim size (8.5"×8.5" square or 6"×9" trade paperback), with full-spread illustrations, cover pages, and page numbers. You upload this directly to Amazon KDP's interior file uploader. The app also generates a separate front and back cover PDF. We recommend reviewing Amazon's content guidelines before publishing.
Every story and review submitted to the community is screened by an AI moderation system before it's visible to anyone else. Content that doesn't meet our family-friendly standards is held for human review or rejected automatically. No personal information from the original story (plot prompts, character details, exact ages) is ever shared publicly.
InkStak applies content safety checks to every generation request. If a prompt contains themes unsuitable for children — violence, adult content, harmful subject matter — the system either steers the story toward a safe, age-appropriate version or blocks the request and explains why it can't be fulfilled.
The same applies to community sharing. Stories submitted for community access are screened before they become visible to anyone, and content that doesn't meet our family-friendly standards is held for human review or rejected outright.
Yes — sharing is rewarded on every plan. On the Free and Token tiers, every 2 stories you share earns 1 free story generation that month (up to 2 bonus stories a month, 10 over the lifetime of your account) — a way to keep creating even without a subscription.
On the Creator and Publisher tiers, every 10 stories you share earns 1 bonus KDP export that month (up to 2 extra a month). Rewards are granted the first time each story goes live after passing moderation.
Nothing is ever deleted. Cancelling reverts your account to the Free tier. Stories you've shared to the Community stay right in your library; the rest are safely archived and restored the moment you resubscribe. Character slot purchases are permanent, and you can resubscribe at any time to regain full access.
On the Free tier, story generation is capped at 5 per month, and your character library is limited to 2 characters (the first 2 you used while on the Free tier).
Yes — InkStak gives you four levels of control:
Creator subscribers can regenerate and edit without token limits.
Stories can be generated for readers ages 2–12. The app automatically adapts vocabulary, sentence length, story complexity, and reading level based on the age you set. For the youngest children (ages 2–4) it generates very short, simple stories with big text and lots of images. For older children (ages 8–12) it generates chapter books with richer language.
Native iOS and Android apps are not currently planned — InkStak is a progressive web app that works in any modern mobile browser and is designed to feel native on your device. You can add it to your home screen for one-tap launch and a full-screen experience:
Once you've opened it online once, your saved stories — and any narration you've downloaded — keep working offline, so bedtime and long car rides don't need a connection.
Yes. On the Creator and Publisher plans, InkStak can read any story out loud with a warm storyteller voice. Narration plays right on your device and keeps working offline once it's downloaded. Richer, more natural and expressive voices are coming soon for Publisher.
You can match a story to your child in two ways. Choose a reading level — from first words and short sentences up to reading solo — for a child who is learning to read, or set an age for a read-aloud story. Either way, the vocabulary, sentence length, and story length adapt automatically.
Yes — for younger listeners you can turn on rhyming, and the whole story is written in gentle, age-appropriate verse. It's especially lovely for reading aloud at bedtime.
Yes. InkStak has an in-depth Help & How-It-Works guide that walks you through everything — creating characters, choosing styles and reading levels, exporting and publishing, narration, and more.
Free to start. No credit card. Your first story takes about 60 seconds.
